Identify an issue

All The Winning Seed projects must relate to topics surrounding youth health and advocacy, with the overall global goal of achieving zero new HIV transmissions by 2030.

Propose your solution

Submit a brief written project proposal by Feb 26, 2026

Submit a video pitch

If selected, you will submit a supplementary 2-minute video pitch by March 10th, 2026.

Live Round

On March 26, 2026, finalists will pitch their projects on a live virtual stream with expert judges. The winner will receive a cash prize to help kick-start their project and receive mentorship from over 4+ experts in the field of youth health and advocacy.

  • Applicants from 14-29
  • Individual or Group Submission (Maximum Four People Per Group)
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee (If applying in a group, at least 50% of group members must be Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Persons.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about The Winning Seed.

Any high school or university student aged 14-29 who is a Canadian resident can apply. You can apply as an individual or as a team of up to 4 people.

All The Winning Seed projects must relate to topics surrounding youth health and advocacy. Your project can also speak on intersections with youth advocacy and community leadership within a wide range of topics such as: mental health, environmental impact (e.g., climate change), reproductive and sexual health, global health, social and behavioral health, and/or other preventative health treatments. The possibilities are endless.

*All The Winning Seed projects must relate to the overall global goal of achieving zero new HIV transmissions by 2030.

Special consideration will be given to projects that align with one or more of the following United Nation (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) themes: Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), or Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).

You could organize a poster initiative, conduct a research project, host an awareness event, build an app or website, create an educational initiative, run an advocacy campaign, or even start a podcast. The choice is yours!

The deadline to submit your written proposal is February 26, 2026. If selected for the second round, you will be asked to submit a 2 minute video proposal by March 10th, 2026.
No! You don't need a registered business or company. We're looking for ideas and passion, not established ventures. This competition is about giving you the resources to get started.
Yes, you can submit multiple applications with different ideas. However, each submission must be complete (written proposal + video pitch). We recommend focusing your energy on one strong idea rather than multiple weaker ones.
While having the opportunity to make a difference in society, it simultaneously provides an excellent opportunity to build your resume. By taking part in this competition, you can showcase your leadership, project management, community engagement, and technical skills, all of which are highly valued by employers and universities.
If you are selected for the next round of applications, our Winning Seed team will contact you. From there, if you are then selected as one of the 3 finalists, you will be notified and invited to present your pitch live in a virtual judging round. All applicants will be notified of their status.
